Sue Carmen is a dear friend who constantly gives of herself and then gives some more.  Whether she is making great food or making you laugh…she is a person that you love to be around. Sue found herself feeling so lethargic that she knew something was just not right.  Over the past 5 months she has been faced with so many medical challenges as her Doctors were trying to figure out what was wrong. Unfortunately, the news contained the 6 letter word that no one ever wants to hear…cancer. Multiple Myeloma. It was caught early so Sue and the Doctors are doing what they can to keep her numbers in a controlled state.  To use her own words “You don’t own me cancer!”. Her next steps are working with an autoimmune specialist and a bone marrow biopsy. All of the numerous tests, doctor appointments and surgery has led to an enormous financial burden as insurance will only cover so much . When she told Cathy Burbee and I that she was taking out credit cards to pay for medical bills it was at that moment that we knew that we needed to do something to help.
