This update is a difficult one to write. On Tuesday morning August 27 Raymond returned home to his father in heaven. He was surrounded by the love of his mother and two sisters. Saying Raymond lost his battle to cancer doesn’t seem appropriate. He fought so hard for his life until his very last breath. He simply graduated to the next part of life, after all he was always an over achiever. As we have navigated through this journey we have learned about the amount of love Raymond had for everyone be came in contact with. He was a wonderful man who’s purpose in life was full filled and while we may not understand why he had to leave us so soon, I truly think it’s such an honor that God called him home. While his time on earth feels so short to us I know his mission was accomplished and we will forever hold memories close. Thank you to all who have showed support to Raymond and to my family from the very beginning. This journey hasn’t been an easy one but with the love, prayers, and support from all of you it has been possible. From the bottom of ours hearts thank you. So many have reached out and asked how they can support and we continue to be grateful. We love you all. Raymond loves you all.

Hi, I'm Alejandra, the sister of Raymond. It is with a heavy heart that I create this gofund fundraiser for my brother. Earlier this year on July 31 Raymond was diagnosed with advanced stage 4 colon cancer. His diagnoses took us all my total surprise especially given his young age of 25. Because of the advanced stage of his cancer surgery is off the table and Raymond is on plan for 12 total treatments every two weeks. With 6 months of chemotherapy he has a long journey ahead of him and this is just the begninging.
Raymond is the Band Director at Herriman High School in Herriman Utah. This is his second year teaching there and he had so many plans for this school year. He graduated with a Bachelors of Arts in Music Education from The University of Utah and since then he has been focused on sharing his passion of music with others. If you have had the pleasure of meeting Raymond then you know what a light he is in this world. His smile lights up a room and his love, dedication, kindness, and passion radiant from him. Raymond is a perfect example of what any teacher should be, even after his treatment days he goes to school with a smile, ready to teach his students. He always talks about how hard they have worked and how proud he is off them.
Music has been such a big part of Raymonds life and he has been able to do so many wonderful things because of it, but he is much more than just a teacher. He is a son, a brother, and uncle, and a friend. I know that Raymond has yet so many lives to impact and so many wonderful things to do and the fact that at 25 he has accomplished so much is such an inspiration to me. My hope is that through this Raymond doesn't have to stress on the days he misses work or the times when it will get rough fro me. I'm asking for your support so that he can just focus on being positive and staying healthy. He always lends his helping hands to those around him and he puts other first.
Forte means loudly, please support me in being Forte with Raymond through his journey. My family and I are so grateful for everyone who has shown their support. There are not enough "Thank you's" we can say. But from the bottom of our hearts "Thank You"https://www.herrimanbands.org/blank-4
