On April 13th I was out celebrating my birthday with my mom, wife and my in-laws from out of town. We had to rush home from the meal because the rain started to come down super hard. My in-laws were supposed to stay at an airbnb nearby our place but hadn’t even been able to check in. We waited at our house hoping the rain would pass so they could finally make it back to their airbnb. Within a couple of hours the water was already almost a foot off the ground, the rain wouldn’t stop. Just when the sun started setting water started flooding the house, the water was almost up to the windows of the cars outside at this point. By 11pm water was covering the entire floor of my house by more than a couple inches and we had to turn off all of the circuit breakers in my house because the outlets were completely submerged. The plumbing started to overflow and my 3 dogs and cat were all on my bed which had begun floating around my room since that was the only dry surface inside of my house. At this point I had to call 911 (tel:911) to come help rescue us, my mother was terrified and already has trouble walking, she wasn’t able to move from the bed. All the 911 operate was able to do was tell me to turn of the breakers which I had already done because they weren’t able to send anyone to help until the morning. Both my car and my wife’s car were totally submerged under water and have been since deemed totaled. We lost all of our furniture and almost all of our possessions and basically everything inside of our house is waterlogged. We currently have no transportation and have no way for either of us to make it to work. We just moved into our place about a month ago and didn’t have renters insurance, none of our belongings are covered by the flood. Currently my wife, my mom, myself, the 3 dogs and the cat are living out of an airbnb until we can figure out what to do. Due to this situation being so dire nd I am supporting my mom and my brother as well I need to ask for help in order to restore our lives and get everything back on track.
