Hi there!
My name is Drew Crosby. I’m a recent graduate of Portland State University and a co-founder of the independent film studio Ghoul Capone Pictures who has spent the past two years developing and filming my debut feature film, Forsaken Remains. Our incredible crew is halfway through the production of this post-apocalyptic coming-of-age epic and have prepared a teaser trailer to rope you into our excitement towards what we’ve captured so far, but we need your help to get it across the finish line!
The premise: ON ARMAGEDDON DAY THE WORTHY ROSE TO THE SKY. THOSE LEFT TO WALK THE EARTH ARE NOTHING BUT... "FORSAKEN REMAINS." After a Rapture-like event blurs the lines between Earth, Heaven and Hell, four young survivors stumble into a fight for their lives against a demon faun who could bring everything they know into question. What originally started as an ambitious short film concept quickly expanded into a feature-length screenplay. An initial $1,000 raised at the start of production has taken the team far, however production costs have grown to the point where further funding will be required to deliver a finished product. Making movies is expensive!
For reference: the expenses for scenes shot so far have totalled $3,800… And that isn’t even close to the average amount spent on the same amount of footage for a Hollywood production. Rather, our main stylistic inspirations (and in fact the vast majority of feature length films you see in theaters) have had budgets in the multi-millions! Children of Men (2006) had an estimated $76 million dollar budget while each individual episode of The Last of Us (2023) has had a $10 to $12 million dollar budget. Even a recent post-apocalyptic feature with a similar scope to our own and a very limited theatrical release, Azrael (2024), had a total budget of $12 million dollars, and the minimalist fantasy drama Lamb (2021) made it to theaters with a budget of $5 million. Suffice it to say - our small but mighty team of independent filmmakers are underdogs, fueled by creative ambitions and a story I deeply believe in that explores love, guilt, violence and truth in a way that feels as relevant as it ever has to our present moment in time. As a proudly Oregonian filmmaker, this is the kind of fantastical and discussion-provoking genre shoot I hope to inspire others to bring to our uniquely Pacific Northwest corner of indie film.
Our costs so far have mainly covered gas, snacks and meals for our passionate crew of dedicated volunteers, in addition to costumes, makeup, gore SFX and props. An estimated $2,000 more will enable us to complete the additional week of shoot dates we need to wrap our production but additional funding beyond that could substantially help us to ensure we can continue to work around our cast and crew’s busy schedules, build a miniature set for a stop-motion sequence, cover the costs of original music composition and professional color grading, and submit our final film to festivals so audiences all over get the chance to watch our hard work on the big screen with us. So please spread the word of Forsaken Remains and know that any amount you can contribute is a huge help towards fulfilling my dream of completing my first feature length film!
