Hello as most of you know Forrest has had knee surgery to help stabilize his knee. The week before thanksgiving Forrest and I were on one of our many park adventures and when he jumped in the car he yelped and was shaking. I took him to the vet and they informed me that his knee was unstable. I did some research and looked into alternative methods to heal him without surgery. We had been icing his knee and adding heat, incorporating low impact exercises to help build the muscle back up. A few weeks ago he woke up and did not want to walk. Forrest was in so much pain he wouldn’t even get up to eat, which is not like our guy at all!. At this point we determined it was time to meet with a surgeon. We met with the surgeon Dr. Aron with Fido surgeons and they informed us of the urgent need of stabilizing his knee before the damage becomes more severe including tearing his meniscus. We were able to schedule his surgery for 2/4/22. We looked into getting pet insurance but unfortunately his knee was considered a pre existing condition, therefore we did not qualify for pet insurance. We will have continued costs for rehabilitation and recovery.

The surgery was more expensive than we had expected but knew it was the best option for Forrest.
