
UCSC Formula SAE - Electric
The Electric Vehicle Research & Development club (EVR&D) began as a way for UCSC students to gain hands-on engineering experience, engage in a team setting, and build up our resumes. This year we're taking on an awesome challenge: design and build a formula-style car for the 2016 FSAE-Electric races!
Formula SAE is a design-build competition culminating in a weekend of racing in Lincoln, Nebraska. In under a year (and on top of our UCSC course loads), we will design the mechanical and electrical systems for the car, source/fabricate parts, build, test, document, and push our performance. We plan to not only build a successful race car, but a knowledge base that will aid the team in Formula events and other projects moving forward.
We’re super excited to hit the ground running this summer as we tackle the design process, but before moving on to the build we need to raise funds to pay for materials, parts, and tools. The estimated total cost of the project is $50k, and we have a long way to go. We’re reaching out to corporate sponsors for donations of parts and money as well, but any help that you can give will be invaluable.
Our immediate goal is to raise the $2,200 required by October 8 to register for the event. Missing this deadline is not an option, so please help us out and donate! A little bit could make a difference! Also, please Like us on Facebook:
