Assist a Breast Cancer patient, currently being treated in Brazil
In 2015 while visiting family and doing check up exams back home I was shocked to find out I was diagnosed with breast cancer.
Before I was a very active singer-song-writer, a student
and nanny, living in California. The situation and lack of family members to help and suport me in the U.S. forced me to leave all my life behind, as well as job, school, friends to follow a treatment back home where I would at least have a home to stay during recovery.
Unfortunately cancer treatments take a long time, in my case several surgeries and I have been unable to work. The first surgery had to be a mastectomy, so I lost my breast completely and due to further post-surgical complications such as a very harsh and painful încapsulation( an aggressive immune system response to the implant of the reconstuction), I had to repair the issue with another surgery. That one that followed, also led to a problem called Seroma, an inflamation ocurred from a big traumatized area of a tissue, like of the mastectomy process I went through.
The next surgery was to repair that issue. At that point the scar and skin wouldn't be able to keep up with any expansion of the reconstruction.
In 2015, my sister, a student of medical school in the U.S. left her life behind and came to Brazil to assist Mom and I. Mom had to remove a tumor in the head, and I was in need of a mastectomy. I'll be eternally grateful to my sister's compassion, as she was our driver and our strength at all times.
After that last surgery I felt a bit better in terms of pain, but that left the bottom skin of the breast too tight and deformed. The reconstruction process continued slowly and being watched carefully by the doctors, which told me my case was not like any others. The way my body was rejecting a foreign implant and scarring needed assidual assistance and medications as well as the Tamoxifen I still need to take daily for five more years. I was certainly going back to the hospital way more than I wanted to.
My parents live two hours away from the Hospital and I can't take public transportations as it is very incovenient, especially after surgeries.
I still need two more surgeries to be done with the nightmare, but Mom is a teacher and can't keep up with the expenses and Dad has a problem with his retirement, as the country faces crisis. I need about $1000,00 dollars per month to cover up expenses, including treatment, food, transportation, injection treatments, etc.
I believe I'll get the help I need and my treatment will be done early 2017 and I'll be able to get back to my healthy routine. I truly appreciate each one of you helping me heal and overcome Cancer difficulties. Please make a donation today and help me spread the word.
