From a Scared Stray to a Safe and Loved Cat ❤️

For several months, we'd been seeing a cat wandering around our area. She looked as though she had been living outside for quite some time – thin, scruffy and matted, with one ear that appeared to have been injured at some point.

Eventually, we decided to start feeding her. Our hope was that, if she came close enough, we could find out whether she had an owner somewhere.

It didn't take long before she started showing up at our house early in the mornings, waiting for breakfast.

She was incredibly hungry. But she was also very frightened. We couldn't get close to her, let alone touch her.

We started calling her Örjan, because her injured-looking ear was the first thing we noticed about her. In Swedish, ear is "öra", and somehow Örjan seemed like the perfect name at the time.

Eventually, we were able to borrow a humane trap and managed to catch her. Once she had calmed down a little, we carefully scanned her for a microchip.

There was no chip.

After spending some time with us and slowly beginning to feel safer, we discovered that she could use a litter box. Eventually, she even allowed us to gently pet her.

Once she had had some time to settle in, we took her to the veterinarian.

The vet confirmed that she is female, unspayed, unmarked and not microchipped.

Since it turned out that Örjan was actually a girl, we gave her a new name: Isis, after the ancient Egyptian goddess. ❤️

She is underweight and has stomach problems. Her coat is dull, matted and in poor condition.

Thankfully, her blood tests looked good.

Her ears were found to have a bacterial and fungal infection, and she has now started treatment for them.

But the biggest problem turned out to be her teeth.

She has a significant amount of tartar, and the veterinarian suspects FORL/TR (tooth resorption), a painful dental disease that can affect cats. She therefore needs a proper dental examination and treatment.

This is the expense we are asking for help with.

We want to give Isis the veterinary care she needs and the chance to live a life where she doesn't have to go hungry, sleep outside or live with pain.

The money raised will go towards Isis's veterinary bills and, most importantly, her dental treatment.

If there is any money left after her veterinary care has been paid for, the remaining funds will be donated to a cat rescue or shelter of our choice, either as a monetary donation or as food and other supplies they need.
