Dear Friends,
My name is Harry, and I am a rising senior at New York University studying psychology. I am an international student who once came from a financially stable family, but due to personal issues, including a financial crisis and domestic violence, my parents can no longer support my education.
NYU estimates the annual cost of attendance at $96,988, which is the estimated cost of attendance for one year, including tuition, housing, meals, books, and other living expenses. While I am working closely with the university’s financial aid office to find a solution, as an international student and a senior, there is no guarantee I will receive this support. On top of tuition, I must cover overdue rent, current rent, legal fees for a domestic violence case, and debt repayment in South Korea to rebuild my credit. I have set my fundraising goal at $96,988, which would be the NYU Cost of Attendance of 2025~2026, but I am deeply grateful for any amount of help I can receive.
I proudly served in the Republic of Korea Marine Corps, reaching the rank of Sergeant (equivalent to E-5 in the USMC). My ultimate dream is to return to South Korea after graduation and rejoin the Marine Corps as a Special Operations officer. My mission is to protect those who feel helpless, just as I once did, and to strengthen the alliance between the United States and South Korea.
Your kindness and generosity can help me remain in school, complete my degree, and take the next step toward a life of service and purpose. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for reading my letter and considering supporting my journey.
With gratitude,
Harry
