Former Red Wings Sports Writer Needs Help

Donation protected
Paul Harris has to have his second hip replacement surgery.
Due to heredity, Paul has chronic osteoarthritis in both his hips and knees. He had his left hip replaced five-and-a-half years ago (June 19, 2017) after getting to the point of not being able to walk. Through rehab, Paul got back to the point of being able to walk without a walker or cane for about three-and-a-half years.

But he had to start using a cane a few months ago as his right hip began to get worse and it has gotten to the point where he has to use a walker once again.

Paul has health insurance but his policy has a deductible of over $9,000.
At the age of 59, Paul was a long-time sports writer and editor in the metropolitan Detroit area, who was known mostly for covering hockey and the Red Wings.

After recovering from his first surgery Paul continued to write and edit as an independent contractor but was ultimately unable to continue covering Red Wings games because despite being able to walk, he was no longer able to traverse the long distances necessary in covering live sports events.
Obviously, a physical job is not possible for Paul, who has also been limited to mostly assignments he could do from home because of his lack of mobility and not having a car.

But the freelance work Paul has been able to support himself with has dried up and he currently has no income, despite trying desperately to find work.

Any help you can provide is appreciated.
