Former Fire-Fighter Fights Lyme

Donation protected
April 3, 2017

My husband, David Plowman, is the bravest person I know...as a former triple certified Fire-fighter, Police Officer and EMT he was dedicated to helping strangers everyday in his line of work.  At 47 years old, after many years of service, his health has continued to deteriorate and he has no longer been able to fulfill the duties of his position or obtain employment. Our photo was taken during one of my fondest memories of our time together - David was healthy, strong and happy and we had no idea of what was in store for us. David has been positively diagnosed with Chronic Lyme Disease.

You may not be familiar with this debilitating and life threatening disease. Even though over 200,000 cases are being reported each year throughout our country, it is getting almost no attention in the media and most people are uninformed or very misinformed regarding it’s nature. Very few doctors are literate in the effective treatment protocols for Chronic Lyme Disease. Contrary to popular belief, it has been proven that due to the nature of the Lyme bacteria conventional antibiotic treatment is very INEFFECTIVE. Chronic Lyme Disease is perhaps the most difficult disease to treat of our time. It is unfortunate that Lyme is a misunderstood disease and dismissed by the medical community as well as our government.

David has crippling pain throughout his whole body as his immune system continues to be compromised. He can barely open and close his hands from swelling and his knees have swollen so much so that he utilizes a cane to get around the house. He gets winded and fatigued easily. His memory loss is consistently getting worse which brings much frustration. The day to day tasks we take for granted are a challenge,,,getting out of bed, taking a shower, getting dressed, walking. Since March, he has lost 15 lbs and counting. There is nothing more brutal than to hear your loved one sobbing and crying out from the excruciating pain he is experiencing.

David is a loving, caring and amazing husband, who I appreciate and admire. He has put on a happy face for vacations, holidays and functions on my behalf. He is my best friend, my support system and my biggest fan. While I have supported our family monetarily during the past years, he has been the heart of our home taking care of our house and our beloved dogs all which has been placed upon my shoulders. It is a struggle. I am grateful and blessed to have him in my life. I am trying my best to be an amazing wife to David but the disease doesn't solely affect the patient and everyday is a challenge for our relationship. It has been both a blessing and hardship to finally have him diagnosed and we can move forward in what we hope will be a positive direction.

We have found a reputable Health & Wellness facility in our area. The only hope for chronic Lyme disease patients is finding a “Lyme literate” doctor with proven treatment protocols which are extremely expensive.
The financial hardship is devastating - the procedures and meds necessary for his healing are NOT covered by insurance. In addition to the expense of the blood work, tests and meds, David will continue to require further testing for co-infections. He needs to receive numerous series' of alternative treatments for what could be a period of several years to completely eradicate the Lyme bacteria from his system.

Anyone who knows David and I, know that we find difficulty in asking for help and reaching out in time of need whether from family, friends or even strangers. David has provided service as a Fire-fighter unconditionally and without bias or judgment. He has demonstrated compassion and empathy.  We need your help in raising the funds necessary to continue an effective treatment for his survival. His condition worsens daily and he has to begin consistent treatments as soon as possible.

If you can help by making a contribution of any amount it would be considered a blessing and greatly appreciated.
Every dollar of donations will be used exclusively for David's treatments. We ask that you please share our fundraiser information through your social networks (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram). Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers.

Love to you,

Jill & David Plowman
