For my Nephew Elijah

Hi, my name is Matthew Rivera and I'm fundraising for my 11-year-old nephew, Elijah. Elijah has recently been diagnosed with Acute Renal Failure and Nephrotic Syndrome . He's been hospitalized at the Children's Hospital of Georgia in Augusta since May 7th, 2023. He has been receiving infusions attempting to reset his kidneys, but the infusions have not been working as expected. On May 24th, his biopsy result came in and he was diagnosed with Focal Segmental Glomerulosclerosis (FSGS). He will begin dialysis treatment immediately.

Elijah is gentle, kind, and has a heart of gold. He loves to build things and passes the time tinkering with his legos. He's been so brave these past several weeks and is pushing through every day despite all of the uncertainty.

Sarah (my sister) is a single mom and has been staying with Elijah at the hospital every night. She has not left his side. She has been unable to work since Elijah's admission. We currently do not know when he will be discharged from the hospital.

We're raising money to aid Sarah, Elijah, and Emery while they hit these hard times. We're looking to raise $12,500 to help cover their monthly living expenses. The funds will go directly to Sarah to help cover medical fees, rent, groceries and transportation costs for May-August as a short term solution. If the dialysis treatment is not effective, we'll need to explore kidney donor options.
