Health and Home for Eleanor and Family

As you may have heard, our sweet niece Eleanor (age 3) was recently- and very suddenly- diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor that has spread to her spine. In the short course of a week, our spunky gal has undergone surgery to remove 99% of the tumor. Unfortunately, she will need additional treatment (radiation, chemo) in the coming weeks and months, which may or may not be here in Richmond. Ideally, she will receive treatment at whatever facility is best equipped for this type of cancer in young children. Our normally feisty, lively gal is quite weak and tired… but still fighting like a champ. We will share medical updates as we learn more.

 

People have very kindly offered to help, and as we learn more in the next few days, we are certain there will be a multitude of needs we can fill. Certainly there will be medical bills galore, on top of regular expenses. One immediate need is to help keep Sara and kids in their current home. Eleanor's illness requires much of Sara's time and attention and will impact income. Most specifically, helping them with rent would be a major relief and would allow Jack and Evi the chance to stay put in their home and neighborhood. They love their neighborhood community, and we are sure it will be a huge source of support and comfort- both emotionally and logistically- over the coming days. As you can imagine, NOT having to move during this time would be very, very helpful. Beyond that, funds raised will help offset the medical bills they will accrue over time.

 

As sisters, we are biased, but we know Sara has put a lot of love into the world as a caregiver and friend to many, and we'd love a chance to help pay that back. We appreciate your prayers for and support of Eleanor, Sara, Jack and Evi!
