Honoring the Legacy of Our Uncle, Private Jose G. Jaurequi, and the Brave Soldiers of the New Mexico 200th and 515th Coast Artillery Regiments in World War II
Jose endured the horrors of war—surviving days of brutal treatment, starvation, and disease—only to perish at the young age of
20 while imprisoned at the Cabanatuan POW Camp on June 28, 1942.
Today, his remains rest in a common gravesite with seven fellow American WWII heroes at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, Missouri.

Why This Matters
The soldiers of the New Mexico 200th and 515th Coast Artillery Regiments demonstrated extraordinary courage and sacrifice during
World War II. These units – many from Grant County suffered some of the highest casualty and fatality rates of any U.S. military units in the Philippines, with many soldiers never returning home.
To allow their legacy to fade is to lose a vital part of our shared history.
We are committed to ensuring their sacrifice is remembered, honored, and carried forward.
Our Mission
This is more than a memorial reception—it is support in action.
