So, I'm not sure exactly how to go about this. And honestly I'm not comfortable asking for help. But here it goes. Many of you guys know me as the guy behind Minecraft Forge, but for a large chunk of you i'm also known as the Evil Guy who is ruining Minecraft Modding.
I deal with people in the community day in and day out. Providing Forge as a free product, my only real compensation being the ads the we have on the downloads page. Of which I try my best to keep them user friendly, curated, non-intrusive. For the most part this has been a good enough system. I'm able to pay for all the costs of running Forge. As well as basic human needs like food. However, recently there has been a upsurge in malicious sites out there pretending to be Forge using Google's ads on searching to filter away traffic to their malware infested sites. I have spent the majority of my time over the last month trying to battle these sites to protect the end user from the malicious malware. But it's taking a major hit to the traffic we normally get.
Most people don't know me, but those who do usually see me as a fairly closed person. I typically don't talk about things that are going on in my life, or whats going on in my head. There are a few (un)lucky few that get to see that, but for the most part what I do to unwind/destress is drive. Which brings us to why i'm doing this. My truck, my main source of mental stability and release, needs a new transmission. It may seem like a stupid thing to ask for help with, and I really hate asking for it. But honestly with the BS that has been going on with Google/malicious sites. The stresses of everyone freaking out over 1.13. Tacked on top of the constant harassment/abuse I get for being a 'public figure'. I'm tapped out financially and honestly I kinda need the stress release.
I'm not sure what I can say more without just going into a long long rant about everything. But the basics is it's a 07 silverado 1500 classic. I've had it for just under 3 years. I do regular maintenance every 3 months. As far as I know, mechanically i've kept great care of it. But for some reason the transmission has just decided to go out. AAMCO says I need to replace the entire thing, at a total just under $4000. I've taken it to two other places to get their opinions, one has no idea whats wrong with it and the other recommended a complete overhaul as well at about $4500.
Money which I don't have... which I why I made this.
