Forget About Archie - Short Film

Sam Brandes will write and direct his capstone film, Forget About Archie, this January in Athens, OH. The film follows Shaun, a socially awkward teen, who navigates the ups and downs of his first date with the help of his brother and overbearing emotional support puppet.

Our film is student-produced, meaning we have to fund the project ourselves. Your donation goes towards feeding the cast and crew (who are all working for free), art department supplies, location fees, and film festival entry fees.

This story is incredibly meaningful to the director. Growing up in rural Ohio as a stereotypically “flamboyant” boy, Sam found it hard to identify with his town’s idea of what it means to be a man. It's a feeling many young boys, especially those also in the LGBTQ+ community, are familiar with. We hope that Shaun’s story will inspire other young people to look inside and decide for themselves what kind of person they want to be.

Emily Moores will serve as Director of Photography, and Grace Palmatary will produce. Chris Reinhardt, Morgan Beck, and Ryan Ball have all recently been cast. We're excited to show you what we make.
