Tara is organizing this fundraiser for the family of her best friend, Tracy, during the most devastating time of their lives. Tracy was a daughter, sister, mother, and deeply loved friend who was killed in a horrific act of violence. She leaves behind three children whose entire world has been turned upside down. Tracy’s family had tried to protect her from domestic violence, and in the days leading up to her death, Tracy was desperately seeking help from law enforcement. She did everything she could to protect herself and the people she loved. Now, instead of worrying about tomorrow, her family is facing the heartbreaking reality of planning her funeral and helping her children move forward without their mother.

At the same time, Tracy’s stepmother, Stephanie Morton, was seriously injured and is recovering from multiple gunshot wounds. She is facing a long road of medical treatment and recovery. This fundraiser will help with Tracy’s funeral and burial expenses, immediate and ongoing support for her three children, housing, food, clothing, and other necessities, travel and expenses for family members caring for the children, and medical and recovery-related expenses for Stephanie.

Tracy cannot be brought back, and what happened cannot be erased. But Tracy’s children can be surrounded with love, stability, and support.
