"Forever Plaid" in the Jubilee Directing Lab!

Hi Everyone!

My name is Danny Dobbins and I am thrilled to announce that "Forever Plaid" by Stuart Ross and James Raitt is coming to the Jubilee Directing Lab on April 12, 2025, at Wright State University!

About the show (from the website):

Forever Plaid is one of the most popular and successful musicals in recent memory. This deliciously fun revue is chock-full of classic barbershop quartet harmonies and pitch-perfect melodies!

Once upon a time, there were four guys (Sparky, Smudge, Jinx, and Frankie) who discovered that they shared a love for music and then got together to become their idols – The Four Freshmen, The Hi-Lo's, and The Crew Cuts. Rehearsing in the basement of Smudge's family's plumbing supply company, they became "Forever Plaid." On the way to their first big gig, the "Plaids" are broadsided by a school bus and killed instantly. It is at the moment when their careers and lives end that the story of Forever Plaid begins....

Singing in close harmony, squabbling boyishly over the smallest intonations, and executing their charmingly outlandish choreography with overzealous precision, the "Plaids" are a guaranteed smash, with a program of beloved songs and delightful patter that keeps audiences rolling in the aisles when they're not humming along to some of the great nostalgic pop hits of the 1950s.

Why raise money?

As any artist knows, mounting up a full musical is an expensive task.

Between rights, costumes, props, and set, there is a lot to account for. As a college student, I cannot support the full cost by myself, which is why I am asking my incredibly supportive community of family and friends to donate to this project if able. Forever Plaid has been my dream project since freshman year and a contribution of any amount would mean the world.

Where would the money go?

As aforementioned, the majority of the money will go towards paying for the rights of the piece. Then the remaining amount will be split towards costumes, props, set, and paying the musicians to increase the production value.

Francis- James Robert Newton

Smudge- Jordan Allen

I will also be music directing the show.

Do I receive anything for donating?

Yes! As a thank you, anyone donating $10 or more will receive priority seating for the performance. Also, anyone donating $50 will receive a shoutout in the program.
