Forever Home for a Mother & Survivor

My name is Jeremy Edward Fleming. The goal of this campaign is to obtain funding for the purchase and renovation of a mobile home or small house for my mother, Victoria Fleming in Southern California. @vickypf45

If we reach our goal I will be able to get my Mother into a place she can call Home, which is something she has not had for over 23 years. Staying in close proximity to her doctors and caretaker is extremely important. Ideally we would be able to purchase the house, complete any necessary renovation, and move my mother into her new home before the end of this year

Over those 23 years my mother has endured kidney failure on two separate occasions, cardiac arrest due to hyperkalemia(Potassium overdose), which lead to congestive heart failure, memory loss and cognitive dysfunction due to the significant side effects of a potassium overdose.

Her first Kidney Transplant was made possible by her brother, Johnny Marchetti, when he decided to give her one of his kidneys. This kidney donation, made by my uncle Johnny, gifted my mother just over 4 years of health, vitality and freedom before a major infection caused her to lose nearly all kidney function once again.

For my mother, the next 10 years would become a roller-coaster of ailments, surgeries and hemodialysis. Her potassium overdose took place during this time and took several years to overcome the lasting side effects, some of which plague her to this day.

Close to 9 years ago she finally was approved for another kidney transplant, and on August 19, 2011 she took part in one of California’s largest to date multi-patient kidney transplant chain, in which 6 kidneys were transplanted from donors to recipients on the same day.

Recovery has not been easy for my mother due to the significant toll that dialysis and other health issues took on her body over those 10 long years. Her positivity and determination to live have been an inspiration to me over the years.

I can recall several instances over the past couple decades, primarily in times of difficulty or distress, where I weighed my issues against those my mother has had to endure. Every time I concluded that, in comparison, my issues were minimal, and if she could move forward with a smile and positive outlook then I should be able to do the same in almost any situation. Needless to say I find myself attributing much of my positivity and perseverance to the strength my mother has shown time and again

Soon my mother will be getting a new heart valve to accompany the defibrillator and pacemaker already keeping her heart pumping. After this surgery she may finally have the ability to regain the vitality she had  over 20 years ago, and a new house to call Home will certainly help the overall recovery.

Taking care of my mother in this way has been a goal for the majority of my life, and with your donations we can make this a reality.
