Meet Minnesota's 2017 Future Problem Solving STATE CHAMPIONS!

We are 5th graders at Forestview Middle School in Baxter. Life just became even more exciting for us – On March 25 we became Minnesota’s Future Problem Solving (FPS) junior division state champions, for the second year in a row!

Your first question might be, “what is Future Problem Solving?” In FPS we spend two months thoroughly researching a topic so we can go to competitions and use a 6 step process to define the problem, brainstorm for solutions and create an action plan. Through FPS we have researched natural disasters, the global workplace, energy of the future, 3-D printing, and identity theft. We love learning about topics that most kids our age have never heard of but more importantly, we love learning to THINK.

By winning the state competition, we earned at berth at the INTERNATIONAL competition in Lacrosse, Wisconsin this June. If we can raise enough money to go, we’ll compete on the topic of biosecurity (think invasive species like zebra mussels) with students from all across the world.

Would you be willing to help us become INTERNATIONAL champions, too? In order for us to travel to and participate in the International Future Problem Solvers conference, we need to raise $8,000. This covers the registration fees for 6 super-bright students and their awesome coach, along with meals and lodging for four days. Would you consider making a donation to help us make this journey?

Thank you for your consideration!
