Forest Kindergarten at Blue Fox Farm
Donation protected

Our first annual Fox Feet 5k Plog fundraiser, to benefit Forest Kindergarten at Blue Fox Farm, is canceled due to the pandemic we are all experiencing right now. I know things are difficult for all of you, and it is affecting our little school too, as we had to close our doors for the duration of the stay-at-home order. Paying the bills is our first priority, but we had high hopes of raising funds this year to construct a community gathering space and assist teachers in their continuing education. We are so disappointed that we will not get to host this unique event in and for our community. But we think you can still participate from afar and in your own way!
"But wait, what's a forest kindergarten?" you ask.
Forest kindergarten is a type of preschool education for children between the ages of three and six that is held almost exclusively outdoors. Whatever the weather, children are encouraged to play, explore and learn in a forest environment. Isn't that great?! Our forest kindergarten at Blue Fox Farm is a child-centered and nature-based preschool program, that increases connection to the natural world while supporting children in their physical, social, emotional, cognitive, and creative development.
A unique program like this has unique needs. The parents, families, and teachers require extra support, education, and resources to build and maintain a strong community that fosters compassion and empathy for the earth and all its inhabitants. Fundraising is essential for infrastructure, materials, and information that promotes nature-based education and care for young children and their entire community. Our fundraising efforts this year are intended for a gathering space with a stone chimney for our regular family campfires and other events, and caregiver continuing education.

"But wait, what's a PLOG?" you ask.
Plogging is picking up litter while jogging. Isn't that great?! Our 5k was designed to benefit our school AND the environment by racing (or walking or strolling) down Fox Hollow Road while picking up trash and having a blast together. Even though we can no longer gather for this event you can still help our school, clean up your favorite nature space, and feel great about your contribution, effort, and connection! Here's how:
1. Make a $20 (or more) donation to our Forest Kindergarten campaign.
2. Take a walk and pick up some litter. Don't forget to bring a bag and gloves!
3. Share this campaign with at least one friend. Every little bit counts. Every person helps make a difference.

At forest kindergarten, we call picking up trash Litter Patrol. It is one of our favorite things to do. It is a little like a scavenger hunt for the children, but I think they also understand the impact and the good that they are doing. Litter Patrol has become a monthly tradition at our school, and we would be honored if you joined in. Please share pictures and use the hashtag #bluefoxlitterpatrol on social media so we can all plog together! Thank you for supporting our school and taking care of Mother Earth.
We look forward to a real 5k Plog next year! Please stay connected by visiting our website , Instagram , or Facebook .
Again, here is how you can participate:
