On Saturday October 8th, my friend Donna’s home was flooded by hurricane Matthew. Donna lives in St. Augustine, FL on Anastasia Island. Hurricane Matthew pelted the Florida coast with rain and feet of storm surge. Donna evacuated taking with her just a few prized possessions, including her mother’s china and her dog and cat.


Upon returning Donna found waterlines of nearly 3 feet inside her home. All of her contents have been lost and she joins the lines of others waiting to have repairs done to their home. Donna’s insurance company will not be covering the thousands of dollars of contents, such as appliances and furniture. These are items Donna cannot afford to replace and will take years of savings to purchase.

Donna is a hard working single lady who has dedicated her career to the roofing industry for over 30 years. She is the first person to show up and help others and has a heart of gold and strong faith.
