Our names are Mark and Annie, and we never imagined we would be in a position where we would need to ask for help like this.

On March 25th, everything changed. Mark suffered a serious slip and fall at our residence and has been unable to work since that day due to his injury. Shortly after, he was diagnosed with blood clots in both his leg and lung. Since then, he has been dealing with ongoing breathing difficulties and severe pain that has made walking extremely difficult.

The situation escalated further when Mark was rushed to the hospital twice by ambulance, once after fainting due to dangerously high blood pressure, and another time due to intense leg pain caused by the clot. He is now on blood thinners, Apixaban, to prevent further complications, but the risks remain very real.

At the same time, our living situation has become unsafe.

We have been dealing with ongoing threats, harassment, and intimidation from tenants in the unit below us. These incidents have been serious enough that police have been involved multiple times. We have documented recordings of threats, including statements implying harm against Mark.

Due to the severity of the situation, we were advised by police to leave our home for our own safety.

We are now displaced, unable to return home, and doing everything we can just to stay safe. We have been forced to rely on temporary accommodations, which has quickly become financially overwhelming. We have already maxed out a credit card trying to manage hotel stays while we figure out our next steps.

On top of this, the stress of everything we are going through is directly impacting Mark’s health. His physician has warned that the added stress and elevated blood pressure could be dangerous, even life threatening given his current condition.

We are actively working with our MPP’s office and pursuing the proper legal channels, including applications through the Landlord and Tenant Board. But these processes take time, and right now, we are simply trying to get through each day safely.

We are not asking for handouts. We are asking for support to help us get through a situation we did not create.
