This is an update on Brooklyn Hoch. She was involved in a terrible auto accident on June 1st. She was a front seat passenger and T-boned by a semi truck on her side of the vehicle. She was pinned in the vehicle and was rescued by the Jaws of Life after 45 minutes of working to get her out. She was then rushed to OU medical center and immediately treated in the trauma unit. She under went 2 major surgeries in a 12 hour period. Her injuries included broken ribs, broken pelvis in 3 places, broken tailbone, spine detached from tailbone, lacerated kidney liver and bladder, a shattered tibia on right leg along with a severe laceration from the knee to ankle, and a fractured left ankle along with another laceration. The injuries to her right leg put her at risk of loosing her leg. Brooklyn spent 4 days in ICU, 8 days in the in-patient trauma unit, 5 days in rehab at the Children's Rehab hospital in Bethany. At this time Brooklyn is home recovering. Thanks to the Children's Rehab, they made arrangements for an in home hospital bed, wheel chair, and shower chair to assist her in recovery at home for the months ahead. She will now begin to slowly work with out patient PT to regain strength until her wounds heal. She will have to wait 3 to 6 months before she can put any wait on her right leg and begin to learn to walk again. By the grace of God Brooklyn has survived and continues to fight for full recovery. She faces a long road, but has the faith and determination that will see her through this battle. Friends and even strangers have asked what they can do beyond the many prayers that have been sent up for her.
