I am running in the 5km Swan Valley Mudfest on Septermber 18th to raise money for 'Run for a Friend' and to bring awareness to mental illnesses and sucicide.
On the 7th of March 2016 my good friend Beth Kelin took her life. She was just 22 years old. An incredibly beautiful soul, who always went out of her way to make others smile, felt that something so perminante was her only way out. Too many people struggle with depression, anxiety and other mental illnesses and don't speak up or seek help.
Whether you are male, female, young or old. You are human. No matter who you are, we are all faced with difficult times in our lives. It is not weak to feel the way you do but it does take a little courage to speak up. Please find that courage!
I am running for everyone that gave up because they thought they had no other option, but most of all I am running for those of you who are still fighting and suffering from any mental illness whether it be anxiety, depression or substance abuse.
Around 45% of Australians will experience a common mental health related conditions such as depression, anxiety or a substance use disorder in their life time.
At least 7 Australians take their own lives EVERYDAY! Suicide is the biggest killer of young Australians and account for more deaths than car accidents. This has to change and it starts with us!
Whether you are currently fighting, feel like you can't fight any more or have survived these issues, I AM RUNNING FOR YOU!
