"For Wren" - Senior Thesis Film

Hi everyone!

My name is Emma Baker and I’m a writer, director, and cinematographer, and I’m currently raising funds for my senior thesis film. This is the last film I’ll make at Syracuse University where I’m currently pursuing a B.F.A. in film. This project is very close to my heart and I’m excited to get the opportunity to share it with all of you!

About the Film

After the death of her mother, Wren returns to her childhood home to sort through her old boxes and memories, only to discover the dark secret her mother kept.

"For Wren" has taken shape over the course of a year. It has come out of the desire to tell a story about growing up and attempting to define yourself outside of other’s expectations. As Wren struggles with her past, I’ve struggled to break away from who I thought I would be. And as Wren discovers, we can’t live the lives of our parents or anyone besides ourselves. We all have a right to claim ownership of our stories and let them become bigger and brighter than we ever thought possible.

The past three years at Syracuse University have allowed me to find my voice as an artist and filmmaker and I’m excited to push myself even further with one last project. I hope this can be the ultimate culmination of all the hard work put in by myself and my peers, and prove myself to the world as a filmmaker and storyteller. Every contribution will help make this film the best it can be and turn my dream into a reality!
