For William - Peaks to The Lakes- 132km in 5 days
We are walking 132km over 5 days straight in July from The Peak District to The Lake District! (Crazy some might say!!)
DAY 1: 26 km
DAY 2: 27km
DAY 3: 39km
DAY 4: 24km
DAY 5: 16km
The aim of our walk is to raise as much money as we possibly can to help secure William's future.
This beautiful 5 year old little boy with an infectious smile has a long journey ahead of him but he is determined to be independent and we want to help!
William will need prosthetic limbs, rehabilitation and their family home will need adaptions to make his recovery and every day life a little easier. He may also require further medical procedures as he grows up.
This beautiful boy is healing…by the end of April he was cast for prosthetic legs and he has started school!
Williams story…
On Monday 13th January 2020 my friends son William James Reckless was put into an induced coma and they were told that he wasn’t likely to make it through the night. William had contracted Sepsis, which then progressed into Septic Shock.
As the medical team brought William out of his induced coma, the doctors discovered that his brain had suffered two injuries, which would temporaily affect his speech and movement. He also developed a blood clot in his leg, which meant even more medication, physio and intense support.
William spent a total of 9 weeks in hospital recovering from Sepsis. He had surgery to amputate both his legs and the tips of every finger (this irreversible damage was caused by Septic Shock and the drugs/treatment he underwent to keep him alive).
