Vincent Skierka and his family

In early September 2021, my Uncle Vincent and Aunt Theresa came to face the biggest obstacle of their 40-year marriage. Just days before their eldest sons marriage, Vincent broke his arm while operating the corn silage equipment. Subsequently, he  was diagnosed with advanced stage Multiple Myeloma (rare cancer of the plasma). Vincent's prognosis was 6 months without treatments, with aggressive chemo potentially a few years.
Unfortunately, with his medical needs, compromised immune system, and his inability to travel,  Vincent and Theresa were unable to attend their sons' wedding.

In January 2022, Vincent contracted COVID and was admitted to the hospital. After several days of treatment, Vincent was informed  his prognosis was poor and the only fighting chance he had was to be placed in a medically induced coma and on a ventilator, currently his medical status is unchanged after weeks of treatment. Theresa has been by Vincent's side as much as the hospital regulations will allow.

With the younger children in school, several of the older children have stepped up to try and run their parents' little ranch, although limited by their young age or their own family obligations and commitments.

Vincent Skierka grew up farming and has worked hard his entire life.  He  married his high school sweet heart, and together, they purchased a small piece of property outside Billings MT, building a small ranch all while raising their 17 children. Vincent worked as a long-haul trucker to supplement the family's income. But has not been able to work since his cancer diagnosis in September.

They have several young children at home as well as three daughters who have chosen to enter the religious life, becoming Daughters of Mary. Vincent and Theresa's adult children help monetarily and physically as much as they can, but many have families of their own and live out of state.

If you can, please consider donating to help this incredible family and assist  with the unexpected medical bills and the loss of Vincent's income; he was their sole provider. In addition to this fundraiser, there is a checking account set up at the Idaho Central Credit Union in Vincent and Theresa Skierka's name if you would prefer to make a direct donation.
