Meet Valeria — A Brave Young Girl Fighting for Her Heart

Valeria was born with a serious heart condition that doctors warned could affect her entire life. Her parents were advised to end the pregnancy, but they refused to give up hope. They left behind everything—family, careers, and home in their country—and came to the U.S. to give Valeria a chance at life.  
Thanks to an emergency procedure at birth, she received an artificial heart valve. But it was only temporary. Now, years later, her heart is failing again. Valeria is scheduled for a critical surgery on July 17 to receive a permanent heart valve that could finally give her the healthy life every child deserves. In the meantime, she is bedridden and in need of constant care.
Her parents have been trained by medical staff to administer treatment at home—but they can’t work while doing this, and the financial burden is overwhelming. We are asking for your help.
