Three weeks ago, our world quietly began to shift.
What started as a hospital visit for back pain turned into something none of us were prepared to hear. Our sister, Trice, was diagnosed with stage-4 adenocarcinoma (lung cancer). There are moments in life that stop you in your tracks and this is one of them. We are still processing the weight of what this means for her and all of us.
Trice, a mother. A grandmother. A sister. A steady presence. The kind of person who shows up, who loves deeply, and who has always been there for her family without hesitation.
Right now, she's in the hospital, facing the fight of her life.
And while we are holding onto hope and taking things one day at a time, the reality is that this diagnosis has brought an immediate and overwhelming weight, not just emotionally, but financially for those closest to her.
We are asking for support to help care for what Trice cares about most—her daughter and grand-daughter, Justice and Airess. We are asking for support to help ease the burden covering basic living expenses such as housing, food, childcare, transportation, and other costs that have already arisen and will continue during this time.
This support creates space for them to focus on being present, on loving her, and on getting through each day together without the added pressure of financial uncertainty. Every contribution, no matter the size, helps.
If you know Trice, you know she wouldn’t ask for this.
So, we’re asking on her behalf.
We also want to gently ask for understanding and space. While your love and concern mean everything to us, we ask that you please not call or text Trice directly at this time. She needs rest, peace, and the space to focus on her care. Messages of support can be shared here, and we will make sure she feels every bit of the love surrounding her.
This has been incredibly hard for our family. But we also know we are not alone.
Thank you for standing with Trice.
Thank you for your generosity.
Thank you for supporting her family.
And thank you for surrounding us with love and lifting our family up during this incredibly difficult moment.
With deep gratitude,
Rashawnda, Angela, & Donald
