For those asking to help Gage during recovery.

This is Gages mom Felisha and on Friday Morning December 3rd 2021 I received a call that no parent ever wants to get. I was told that my son had been involved in a work accident and his body had been badly burned, he was in an ambulance and being taken to a hospital near the job site in Washington D.C over 2 hours from our home. My first thought/question was is he alive? The answer was he was conscious when the ambulance arrived. Unfortunately that was all we really knew. My sons boss offered to come pick me up and drive me to the hospital to be with my son. I called my husband and discovered he would not be able to make it home for another hour. Knowing that time was of the essence I called his boss back and said I would accept the ride because I knew I was in no shape to drive that far just yet. The drive was long and agonizing just wondering what we would find his boss tried to explain the accident to me to the best of his knowledge. When we were about and hour away the Dr called and said he was alive and had suffered burns all over his body from the waist up. My son is an 2nd year electrical apprentice with a local industrial subcontractor and works high voltage electricity. He was in a boom lift 80 feet in the air and an arch flashed and energized the boom. Continuing down to the ground and blew a 3foot hole in the earth below him. Needless to say we are lucky he is alive and will live to tell this story. He was admitted to the ICU Burn Unit at Washington Hospital on 12/3/21 where we have been every since. He has severe burns covering 40% of his body and will require multiple skin grafting surgery’s and many weeks in the hospital before we can bring him home. I have posted on social media asking for prayers and positive vibes. Many have reached out asking what they could do to help and tried to find a way to donate monetarily or in other ways. At this time we don’t know much more other than he will be out of work and in recovery for quite some time to come. He is a Daddy to an incredibly sweet 1 year old baby boy. And he is worrying about finances right now which I have tried to put his mind at ease that we can help take care this things.
