FOR THE WOMEN IN THE AMAZON

We are launching an emergency campaign to support the work of the Women of The Amazon, Mujeres Amazónicas, during the COVID-19 pandemic, which has had devastating consequences for the indigenous people in the Amazon.

We are witnessing the effects of climate change in the Amazon rainforest with heavy rain and extreme flooding massive floods, whilst corporations and governments continue to expand oil extraction and mining, destroying the homes of indigenous people who have been living in these forests for time immemorial. In response, a movement of indigenous people has emerged, fighting back to protect their lands and territories. That work can be very dangerous, with indigenous people and land defenders targeted for protecting nature and the global climate.

Now the global COVID-19 pandemic has hit the Amazon, exacerbating the situation further and putting indigenous people at even greater risk. We need your support.

All proceeds will go to to Mujeres Amazonicas, a movement that unites indigenous women in the Ecuadorian Amazon fighting to protect their territories and rights.
