For the Tragic Loss of Miriam Clarke

Donation protected
Our beloved mother, wife, daughter, sister and aunt, Miriam, was torn from us tragically this past Sunday at the young age of 59. Late Saturday evening she told her daughter Katelyn “I’m dizzy” and collapsed into her arms. Hours later hospital doctors told us that she had suffered a rare stroke that originated in her lungs and traveled to both sides of her brain. Doctors performed a procedure, but it was not enough to keep her here with us. And in the early morning hours, her husband and daughters let her go to God. This heart-wrenching loss is immeasurable so asking for any specific amount of money feels impossible but we are here asking for what help you can give.

Due to the current global health crisis, the family suffered major setbacks. This also affected Kenny's ability to advocate for Miriam at the hospital as he was not permitted inside the ER. Kenny, Miriam and their daughters were all born in New York’s Hudson Valley. They grew up and lived in Stony Point and Haverstraw and continue to have deep bonds in this community. They have lived in Henderson, Nevada for many years as well where they also have many friends and family. Las Vegas’ entertainment and hospitality industry has been deeply hurt by the pandemic. Kenny works in food service which has suffered due to the shutdowns and has meant they have no savings to speak of.

What our family lost is well known to those who loved and knew Miriam. Her tragic death has come at every cost imaginable for her beloved daughters and husband who need her desperately. They live paycheck to paycheck and were actively supporting their two daughters who live with them for college tuition. Kenny and their daughters Katelyn and Alexa relied heavily on Miriam for medical benefits and support. If Miriam was here, she would work tirelessly to move those mountains and soothe all the pain that she could. But she is not. So now it is up to her cherished family, friends and the GoFundMe community to take up that task and to help alleviate the enormous financial burden caused by this incredible loss. Please donate whatever money you can and please keep her and all of us struggling with this in your prayers.

She was deprived of so much life, with her husband and girls, yet to see her daughters married or to hold her future grandchildren. All of us robbed of her participation in all the treasured moments life had promised in her golden years. Though Miriam was the quiet type, she had deep heart-bonds with her family and close friends that could never be broken. A quote she shared on Instagram stated, “Love is when the other person’s happiness is more important than your own.” Miriam went out of her way, would do anything, give the shirt off her back to those who needed it. Miriam was gifted at connecting, was a deeply moral, accepting and selfless person for whom imperfect was perfect. She always saw the bigger picture and prayed nightly for her family. Miriam was “granty” to her niece’s children and treated them as her own grandchildren who she tragically will not have the privilege of loving in the way only Miriam can. She knew when those she loved needed her warmth and her kindness which was inescapable. Miriam adored her beautiful girls, her nieces and nephews to whom she was a second mother and loved their babies with every fiber of her being.

Miriam had many dreams and had recently told her sister Virginia that she was “very happy” after years of struggling with anxiety. She was gearing up for her next chapter that she expected would be rife with new adventures, family holidays and watching her daughters and family grow. Her husband Kenny is devastated as he and Miriam were looking forward to renewing their wedding vows. She was beyond excited to watch her daughters chase their own dreams, one attending graduate school and the other training as a healthcare professional. Miriam was quirky and funny, very loving and affectionate. Miriam had an infectious laugh that lit up rooms. She loved babies and her copper colored dog Penny. We will love and miss her forever. Please help Miriam and her family.

-          With deep gratitude, the family and friends of Ken and the girls on behalf of our beloved Miriam
