Mr. K.M. Samaraweera, one of my former teachers in Polonnaruwa is currently suffering from a serious heart disease.

The blood vessels leading to the heart are 90% blocked with Calcium(TVD). He has been advised to undergo bypass surgery. But he is unable to do this as it involves a great risk at his age of 69. Now he is visually disabled and lives alone in a house by

himself.

With the help of his past students and friends, he received native treatment for about one year with no improvement. Since last March, he has been receiving western treatment from a doctor in Colombo. He must go to Colombo with a helper once a week for thirty weeks. Each trip costs about 15,000 LKR for travelling, medicine etc. He has covered only six weeks so far and needs about 300,000 LKR (about 1,500 AUD) for his future treatment. His life will be threatened unless he continues with this treatment. Therefore, I kindly request you to make

your valuable contribution to save his life. I hope his past students and batchmates of the engineering faculty Peradeniya (79 batch) will pay special attention to this request.

He has dedicated about 50 years of his life to building a future world for the students of a rural area. Although he worked as a tutor of A/L Chemistry and Physics for 20 years he had to stop

it due to impairment of vision. However, he continued his classes in English despite his visual disability. All students with economic problems were taught free of charge in his classes. He

has stopped his classes for several years due to his poor health. Medical reports are attached here too.
