Early Monday morning, my dad passed away after a fight with stage 4 lung cancer. He was only 60 and watching him fade over these past months has been one of the hardest things our family has ever faced.

My parents were married for 40 years. Through every high and low, they loved each other deeply. My daddy was a strong man with a big heart — the kind of person who couldn’t sit still if something needed fixing or someone needed help. Even with his own struggles, he never stopped showing up for the people he loved.

Now my mom is trying to navigate life without him while also facing the cost of his funeral. We’re currently only planning a small graveside service since that’s all we can afford right now, but if we’re able to raise enough, we’d love to give him a fuller service.
