For the Love of Lyric & Family

On behalf of Lyric Jacks and her family, I created this fundraiser to provide them with some much needed financial assistance as they continue to fight for her life against a very aggressive and cancerous brain tumor. This is a separate fundraiser from the one I created for them in 2018 in which the initial goal for Lyric to have brain surgery was reached. Unfortunately, Lyric’s condition has become worse despite several major brain surgeries.

On November 27, 2020, Lyric’s mother, Monica Valentine received devastating news during a follow up regarding Lyric’s September 10th brain surgery. Dr. David Sandberg, Pediatric Neurosurgeon in Houston, Texas, did an amazing job by removing more tumor than any other doctor has been able to do for Lyric. Sadly, the tumor grew back just over 2 months later commanding a greater capacity of her brain. It has spread across various parts of Lyric’s brain.

Dr. Sandberg has informed us that there is nothing more besides Palliative/Hospice Care that they can offer. They do not have a chemotherapy drug that will treat the Anaplastic Ependymoma Tumor that Lyric has and have predicted a survival rate of  less than one year.

I could not imagine receiving this news and will do whatever it takes to help this family during this tough time. I have known the family for many years in which Monica and I have always referred to each other as sisters (she does not have a biological sister) and our children as nieces whoall grew up together.  

This family has always been there for the people in their lives and have supported others from all over the world. I know that they will go without before asking anyone for anything. They are compassionate, genuine, and most of all, human like the rest of us that need a helping hand sometimes. 

Due to Lyric’s condition, her parents have not been able to work. They must provide 24-hour care for her in addition to their other 2 children whom have also been affected by this situation. The entire family is now living in a hotel including Lyric. This fundraiser will assist them in paying for food, shelter, clothing, transportation, healthcare, life insurance, etc. 

Although we reached our goal on the previous fundraiser to get Lyric the help she needed, this family has been left in shambles due to the exhaust of their income. All funds raised went directly to doctors and hospitals. Please join me in helping this family get back on their feet as this has been a tortuous fight for them. The smiles you see on their faces hide the pain and tears I see everyday. 

We will never give up fighting for Lyric and have begun a natural healing journey to bring her through this. She will beat the odds that the doctors have projected. We appreciate all of your prayers and donations to assist Lyric’s family.
