Animal friends,

Our daughter Savanah has spent her entire life loving and advocating for animals in need. In 2022, while still mourning the loss of her 16-year-old Husky Mix less than one year earlier, she found herself coming to the rescue of a stray Husky mix puppy who had been found injured, unwanted, and wandering the streets of Stockton, California.

This little puppy, whom she later named Luke, was having a rough start in life and narrowly avoided finding himself in the terrifying and overcrowded shelter system that so many Huskies face. Thankfully, fate intervened that day, and Luke finally found his forever home with his new mom.

Fast forward four years, and many adventures together later, Luke was diagnosed with complications caused by Primary Glaucoma, which is a genetic abnormality most commonly found in Northern dog breeds. This hereditary condition requires constant monitoring and medications, while causing extreme discomfort, pain, and, in most cases, ultimately leads to complete blindness. Unfortunately, though she tried everything that she could, Savanah was no longer able to effectively manage Luke's symptoms. After much soul searching, she realized that the only humane thing to do was to have Luke undergo surgery to remove both of his eyes in January of 2026.

Luckily, after numerous post-surgical complications and nearly two months of healing, Luke is finally beginning to howl, play, and resemble his happy-go-lucky, sassy, goofy self!

In addition to the severe emotional distress this diagnosis caused, the subsequent veterinary visits, medications, and loss of work have created overwhelming financial strain on Savanah's ability to cover the cost of Luke's treatments and surgery, which to this date have exceeded $5,000.00
