Cleaning Up the Planet- All for His Love of Frogs!

Justin has raised over $30,000 for his efforts to conserve land to make the planet healthier and safer for all.

He's protecting the rainforests in Ecuador, cleaning our world's dirtiest rivers, and finding climate solutions for his friends, family, the next generations, and of course- THE FROGS!

Justin's mission is to CLEAN UP THE PLANET inspired by his Love of FROGS!

Currently, Justin is working on protecting 30% of our planet by 2030.
He's on a mission to protect 100 ACRES of cloud forest in Ecuador.

Right now he's at 68 Acres and Justin's $8,5151 away from hitting his goal.

Inspiring Others to Take Care of The Planet,
One Small Action at a Time,
By Being Brave, Determined, and Innovative.

MEET JUSTIN SATHER.
Justin’s like most 9-year-old boys: he loves to play sports, hang out with his friends, and build things. He also loves frogs, which might seem just like another ordinary thing- except he’s taken that love to another level.

FROGS ARE DISAPPEARING.
It all started in kindergarten, when Justin learned almost one-third of frog species are on the verge of extinction. He learned pollution, pesticides, contaminated water, and habitat destruction are the main causes for their decline. Knowing that frogs are indicator species, he recognized frogs are telling us the planet needs our help.

THE BOOK THAT STARTED IT ALL.
Justin’s mom read a book to him titled, “What Do You Do with An Idea?” and as she saw his passion to create change, she supported his idea and they set out on a quest to tell the world- "The Frogs are Telling Us that The Planet Needs Our Help!"

RAISING AWARENESS.
Justin started selling toy frogs around the neighborhood. He recognized that incorporating science with art inspired others to listen. Through frog art and his own frog-themed shoes, his message quickly expanded from one neighbor to the next and increased through social media partnerships. As he raised awareness, he also raised thousands of dollars.

RESTORING WETLANDS.
His first $2,000 was donated to Save the Frogs! non-profit. Justin’s passion for the wetlands grew and he became fascinated with the local Ballona Wetlands nestled away in his busy Los Angeles home town. He began setting up local cleanups and donated hundreds of gloves. On his 8th birthday, he invited his friends to the Ballona Wetlands to pick invasive weeds and discuss the harms of plastic pollution.

DR. JANE GOODALL AND PLASTIC POLLUTION.
Justin wanted to continue to tell the world that frog decline is a sign that the planet needs our help. He was inspired to join Dr. Jane Goodall’s Roots and Shoots program. Justin presented his project to Dr. Jane Goodall at one of her events and she was very excited to learn how motivated and eager he was to help the frogs and the planet. Dr. Jane Goodall became a role model for Justin.

Dr. Jane Goodall told Justin about the dangers of plastic pollution and that if he was really brave- he’d focus his attention to this subject matter. Justin agreed to her challenge and so it was very fitting that he was published in an issue of Bravery Magazine dedicated to Jane. Bravery Magazine featured Justin for all of his efforts to help spread the message that healthy frogs indicate a healthy world.

PLASTIC POLLUTION.
Justin discovered ways to keep trash out of landfills. He switched to reusable snack bags and gave lessons on composting at Emerson Gardens. Justin learned how to recycle crayons, turn fishing line into bracelets, and transform plastic bags into doormats. He came across a little girl that melts 200 pounds of plastic bottle caps into a buddy bench that encourages kindness and new friendships.

TURNING TRASH INTO TREASURES.
Justin didn’t realize his love for frogs would turn into a passion for taking care of the planet. He became interested in recycling, but when he learned that trash can be transformed into other gadgets…it was like MAGIC!

That's why Justin says, "Turning Trash into Treasures is just like MAGIC!"

THE BUDDY BENCH PROJECT: 200 Pounds of Plastic Caps!
Justin eagerly asked everyone in the neighborhood to save him a box or a handful of caps. To his surprise, the neighbors, his school, the Westchester YMCA, and the Staples Center generously came to his aid. After months of collecting, Justin has almost reached his 200-pound goal and the caps soon will be transformed into a Buddy Bench for his school in Los Angeles.

THE PARALLEL PROJECTS:(The Parallel Projects Video)
On April 22, 2018 (Earth Day) a young 22 year old name Perise Forbi reached out to Justin asking for his help. He wanted to know if Justin could help him turn all of his plastic pollution trash into treasures in Cameroon. He started another a second Go Fund Me Campaign for the Parallel Projects to help fund this endeavor.

ALL FOR THE LOVE OF FROGS:
Justin wants to continue to spread his message about plastic pollution. He wants people to know that it only takes one small change in their life, something as simple as the type of toothbrush they use, to make a positive impact on the planet.

THE TOOTHBRUSH CHALLENGE:
Justin has been collecting toothbrushes from his friends, neighbors, classmates, workspaces, and local dentist offices. He is determined to inspire everyone to switch from a traditional plastic toothbrush to a more eco-friendly option.

JUSTIN IS ON THE RESERVA JUNIOR YOUTH COUNCIL.

KIDS CAN CHANGE THE WORLD:
Justin wants to inspire other children to be brave and change the world for the better. And the better for Justin is a world full of colorful and vibrant frogs that add a little magic touch to our home – Planet Earth.

TIMELINE OF AWARDS:

1) -His first $1,000 raised was donated to Dr. Kerry Kriger of Save the Frogs for his Re-Frog America Campaign. The Save the Frogs! team built wetlands in the La Plumas National Forest to help save the CA Red Legged Frogs.

2) -He then teamed up with PLAE Shoes, an innovative and eco-friendly shoe company that believes shoes should be creative and give children power to express themselves. Justin designed his own frog-themed shoes and was named Ambassador of their PLAE-It-Forward Program. He sold over $8,000 of shoes and earned another $1,000 for his Save the Frogs Project.

3) -The money earned was used to build an outdoor classroom at Garvey Middle School in Los Angeles. Save The Frogs Coordinator, Kathlyn Franco, invited Justin to participate with the students to build an on-campus wetland habitat that will provide students with an increased opportunity for wildlife viewing of birds, butterfly, dragonfly, and of course frogs.

4) -Founder Dr. Kerry Kriger was so impressed with Justin’s progress that he set up a donation page for Justin and together they raised $500 to sponsor a Save the Frogs worldwide art contest. The purpose of the art contest was to help spread the message about the disappearing and decline in frogs through art to help inspire more people to make our world healthier for the frogs and future generations too!

5) -Justin learned that the frogs are a sign that the planet needs our help. He was inspired to join Dr. Jane Goodall’s Roots and Shoots program. It is an organization that is about making positive changes for people, animals, and the environment. In October Justin presented his project to Dr. Jane Goodall at one of her Roots and Shoots events. She was very excited to learn how motivated and eager Justin was to help the frogs and the planet.

6) -Dr. Jane Goodall became a role model for Justin so it was very fitting that he was published in an issue of Bravery Magazine dedicated to Jane. Bravery Magazine is a publication for girls and boys that highlights brave role models and empowers kids to be their own kind of brave.
