For the Love of Copper
Donation protected
As some of you may already know, we had a bit of a scare with Copper this past month. He seriously injured both of his hind legs back to back weekends and was unable to walk. We took him to the vet and were referred to Atlantic Veterinary Hospital in Marblehead for a specialist opinion.
We went and met with an orthopedic surgeon to get some answers. It has been confirmed that Copper has badly torn both hind leg ACLs and will need surgery on both. Fortunately, he has made some progress the last couple of weeks but is still unable to get up and down stairs, on and off of furniture, etc. Although progress has been made, there is still a long road to recovery ahead (3-4 months’ recovery per knee… both knees will be operated on separately).
I wouldn’t typically do this but I know that Copper has made quite an impact on many lives over the last 9 years. He is my favorite pitbull advocate and has changed the view of pitbulls for many who have had the pleasure of spending time with him. I’m sure that most who know him would say the same.
At this time, we are asking for donations to help cover the unexpected costs set to accrue over the next handful of months. His first surgery is scheduled for 12/18/18. The above goal is the cost of the surgeries ONLY; the goal amount does not include the cost for x-rays, therapies/rehabs, or any additional costs that may be accumulated.
Once Copper is healed, if there is any leftover money from this fundraiser it will be donated to CAPE ANN ANIMAL AID in honor of Rico for being such a “patient” younger brother during this process.
We thank you in advance from the bottom of our hearts for any donation amount you can offer. No amount is too small.
With so much love,
Kristy, Andrew, Copper & Rico
