For the leukemia battle of my sister Arisbeth

Donation protected
My dearest friends, colleagues and future friends,

Thank you for taking your precious time to read this appeal. My name is Jessica Martinez and I’m addressing you today because last Thursday my little sister, Arisbeth Martinez (27 years old), was diagnosed with blood cancer (leukaemia) – and it is breaking my heart into heavy pieces. I wish there was no need to write these lines, I wish there was no need to worry for my sister’s life…It is extremely challenging to write/talk about it while my baby sister is starting her chemotherapy in this very moment (24.02.21), but somehow this moment requires my family to be strong and hopeful, that’s why I am writing these lines…

How would I describe my sister? Arisbeth was born and raised in Villahermosa, Tabasco and lives now in Las Choapas Veracruz (both are cities in Mexico). She is a real warrior with an overwhelming lost for life. She is the sunshine of every traditional Oaxacan festivity, she loves to dance and her smile is one of the contagious ones – bright, full of joy and honest – with this magical sparkle in her eyes. She is passionate about chemistry so she became an chemical engineer (which I think is pretty cool) and she was teaching in one of Mexico’s universities. Having her as my sister is fulfilling my life every step of the way. Growing up and learning from and with her was and is an incredibly joyous experience and I feel extremely blessed. Arisbeth is a funny, generous and super smart woman. My family’s love for her is beyond words and will do everything we can - and more - to keep her gorgeous smile alive, to keep our hermanita, hija, prima, amiga alive.

As Arisbeth has no medical insurance, due to various reasons, the treatment of the leukaemia is extremely costly (generally the heath care system differs a lot from the German one). Moreover, my family decided to transfer my sister to a hospital specialized in cancer in Xalapa, veracruz which results in a rise in expenses. Although the financial burden is huge this was the only right decision for us to take.

Due to the high costs of the treatment I am today asking you with a heavy heart to support my family in this unbearable painful moments with a donation for my sister’s treatment. Any amount, even the smallest, is welcome and dearly appreciated. In case your financial situation is not permitting any support we kindly ask you to send prayers and love to Arisbeth. Your prayers and recovery wishes are essential for her healing process. Moreover, we ask you to spread this appeal with your loved ones, colleagues and friends.

My whole family in Mexico and I myself are more than grateful for every donation, all recovery wishes and your prayers. We will keep you in our hearts  and prayers as well. We will tell Arisbeth about your generous support which will fill her heart with hope and warmth.

We deeply thank you.

Jessi and the whole Martinez family
