A BLESSING IN DISGUISE

Hello my name is Prince Nortey, but you can call me Coach Prince. 

I coach a group of young teenagers in Los Angeles, California, who have love and passion for this game called Football in Europe and all around the world except in the U.S. 

I’m almost 50 years young I think 

I am a father of 3 children: two daughters and a son. The youngest, my daughter Janae, is 6 years old and my biggest fan.

I hope you’ll let me take a moment of your time to let me express my thoughts as to why I’m writing this message asking for your support. 

In 2014 I got assaulted by 12 young individuals who were trying to rob me at work. 

The assault was a blessing in disguise because if I hadn’t been assaulted that night you would not be reading this message. 

Three months later, thinking I would be having surgery to replace my left kneecap due to the assault, I got news from the Doctor. I had Cancer ♋ that was eating my left leg and I had maybe 2 to 6 months to live if we didn’t amputate my left leg above the knee. 

The news really put a damper in my heart ❤ and soul. But I told the Doctors and Nurses that God had other things in place for me and that I would survive and be stronger and a better person to those who needed me. 

Now here we are …fast forward to 2023 and going into 2024. I am coaching a group of young boys in Soccer as you call it in America. 

We have gone from playing grassroots soccer with some of the boys from 5 years old to this year (2023). They are now between 13 and 16 years of age. Most of these boys are dreaming of becoming professional footballers or at least have a chance for a Scholarship by the time they enter College. 

I have been coaching them together with my dear friend Bernie Ruiz, team manager Jamie Scott and parents who have blindly supported me and these boys for us to climb the system to be able to play Division 2 Club Football that we just ended. 

I am humbly asking you, and any person who reads this message, to please help us raise funds of $4000 so that we can buy game jerseys, balls, ⚽️ training equipment and the chance for these boys to have the opportunity and chance to showcase themselves in front of over two hundred scouts and college recruiters at the 2024 Las Vegas Mayor’s Cup International Showcase that takes place February 17-19, 2024.
