Hurricane Melissa has devastated Jamaica - leaving behind destroyed homes, flooded communities, and farmland that once sustained families now completely wiped out. Across the island, fields are buried in mud, crops are gone, and many families who rely on farming for both food and income are left with nothing.
These are the same communities that raised us; friends, family, and neighbors who have always shared what little they had. Now, they need us.
We are THE S&G FAMILY - Carlene Gowe and Shane Gowe - born and raised in Kingston and St. Ann’s, now living in the UK. Jamaica is, and will always be, home. We still have family and friends back there, and seeing the devastation firsthand through their eyes has moved us to act.
We have started this fundraiser to help send direct relief to the people and places that may not be at the forefront of receiving aid. While major towns may get assistance first, many rural and farming communities are struggling quietly, waiting for help that may never come soon enough.
Our goal is to send barrels filled with essentials - food items, clothing, hygiene products, baby supplies, and other necessities - directly to those families. We’re working with trusted locals to ensure these barrels reach the people most affected, especially those in remote farming areas who have lost both their homes and their livelihoods.
Your contribution will help us:
- Purchase and ship barrels filled with supplies directly to affected communities
- Support families who’ve lost their crops and income
- Provide basic necessities like food, water, and hygiene essentials
- Offer comfort and hope to those who feel forgotten in this crisis
- Raising this money isn’t just about feeding another person - it’s about helping a family begin to rebuild their lives, one step at a time.
No act of kindness is too small. Every pound helps us send another barrel, feed another family, and remind someone in Jamaica that they are not alone.
Together, we can give back to the Jamaica that gave us everything - its love, its culture, and its strength.
One love, always.
