For the Family of Tonya Ann Sims

Donation protected
Tonya Ann Sims, Beloved Momma, Grandma, Sister, Aunt, Niece, Friend, and so much more, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, September 19, 2020.  She was 57 years young.

Her family is asking for donations to help with cost of cremation, funeral, and repast expenses, which are currently being planned.  (Details will be posted as available.)

If you don't know her, let me tell you a bit about Tonya…

Tonya was the 2nd of 4 children of Nora and Alfred Sims.  Tonya and her brothers, LaMont, Rodney and Terence, were mostly raised by their incredible momma, Nora Sims. LaMont and Tonya were the oldest, and they always looked out for and took care of their younger siblings, while Ms. Nora worked a lot to raise 4 children on her own in Baltimore. (LaMont died in 2010 and Nora in 2012. We are sure they are having some kind of joyful reunion with Tonya in the afterlife now.)

Tonya had many rough years. She endured much, and always came out on top, and with a bright and sunny attitude that would make you doubt all she struggled with. She always made everyone laugh, over some silliness she concocted. She always made the best of things and she brought joy wherever she went.

Tonya has 10, yes TEN children. And they are all as amazing as she is.  Smart, funny, intelligent, compassionate, strong.  She has several grandchildren as well. Another generation of smart, funny, intelligent, compassionate and strong people. She leaves a huge legacy of Love and Perseverance, Beauty and Power, and Laughter and Joy.

From the exterior and first glance, Tonya may have appeared tough and rough-around-the-edges. It didn’t take long to find out she was a big softy underneath that exterior, and had a heart of gold.

The Sims and Barnes family, and so many others, are hurting and reeling from the loss of such an incredible and special woman in our lives. We hurt so deeply right now, because we LOVE her so deeply.

What an incredible blessing Tonya is, and will continue to be, in our lives. We’ve gained another angel, and we will miss her every day until we meet again.

Finally, I will say this: I don’t think the timing of Tonya’s transition in the same year as John Lewis, Chadwick Boseman and the Notorious RBG is accidental. She is a hero and a fighter, just as they were. She impacted countless lives, and she deserves her rest and glory.

Give LaMont and Nora hugs for us, Tonya.  We love you, forever and always.

Thank you in advance, for any financial help you can give, and for your prayers and support and love as we mourn AND celebrate Tonya.
