Good morning from Linda Zac Ceri and myself. These are the funeral details of our hero, Gareth Roberts.
The funeral will take place at 10.30am at Llwydcoed crematorium on Wednesday, 29th April. The funeral procession will start at around 09.45 from Gareth's home. We know that some people will be standing on the streets as the procession passes. Thats incredible, and fitting for this gentle hero of a man. Please observe social distancing is all we ask.
The funeral will be live streamed as is now common practise at these times. To join in here are the link details.

That will go live on Wednesday.
Please do whatever you think fit, ie light a candle, say a prayer, whatever eases your pain.
The family have asked me to tell you all how overwhelmed they are by the support they have received. From all over the world, tributes have been coming in from colleagues, friends, patients and strangers who have become friends. Thank you all.
Please message if you have any questions, ill do my best to get back to you. If I haven't thanked you personally, it's because it all went crazy after the television broadcasts on itv and BBC. Particular thanks to Rob from BBC breakfast.
The generosity of people has been incredible. I stated off thinking £1,000 might be a bit much. We are nearly at £10,500.
Unbelievable. We send out ten and a half million thank you's for your kindness.
Please drop me a message if you have any questions, I'll do my best to get back but I only have my phone and I'm not really technically competent so please be patient with me!
Gareth Roberts. You have touched peoples hearts in death just a much as you did in life.
Rest well, you wonderful man. ❤️
I had to share this post with you. There are so many testaments to Gareth as a nurse, a colleague, a friend. I'd like to put them all together soon to give to Linda and Zac.
This is from Steven:
Gareth Roberts, RGN
Dear Linda, I’m so sorry to hear of Gareth’s death (I went cold and had a shiver when I seen his photo). Gareth looked after me when I had major surgery at Cardiff University Hospital of Wales in 2006 and was very caring professional nurse of the highest standard, nothing was too much trouble for him and he would go over and above that was required by a nurse. He helped my 10 days stay in hospital a lot easier and was personally the best nurse that I have ever had, who was very caring to every patient on the ward and a real Gentleman. I cannot thank Gareth enough and will live in my memory for ever and will be very Badly Missed in the nursing world. It is with Deepest Sympathy to Linda and Family at this unbelievable time that he died trying to help save lives of other people and putting his self at risk. He was an Unbelievable Man. Please send my condolences to the Family.
Rest In Peace Gareth (Gone but Never Forgotten)

Hello, I'd just like to tell you all that Linda and Zac are totally amazed at the anoint of support you have given. Tributes pour in daily about Gareth and what a marvellous man he was. His photograph has been in mamt publications, the BBC have done an interview and so have ITV. Gareth is a hero. And a husband colleague friend to everyone who had the good fortune to meet him.
This tribute from Sophie says it all:
"I did my first HCA shift with you all those years ago. You took me under your wing. You did not hesitate too look after me on my first shift and you were with me every step of the way, on what I remember was a difficult shift. You made me feel so welcomed. You were so humble and gracious. I almost felt like I was chatting to an old family friend, despite it being my first shift with you. You taught me so much in such a short period and showed such kindness and respect to everyone. It was so clear that you loved your job and you were so wonderful with the patients. You were one of those salt of the earth kind of people. I was in awe of you to be honest and you made me realise that I definitely wanted a career in healthcare. You were a character too! I only knew you briefly, but I have ALWAYS remembered you since. What you taught me, I still do today and will take with me through my career in medicine. I never got to thank you properly, but I want to thank you now. What a lovely man you were. My sincere condolences to the family at this difficult time".
Thank you.
All the best,
Sophie
I will let you know when Gareths funeral will take place.
Sincere and grateful tganks
Janette.

I'm am so overwhelmed by the generosity of Gareths friends and colleagues. We are almost at double the initial amount first asked for. Nearly £2,000 In less than 24 hours. I will keep the fund going as many people have messaged saying they want to give, but are waiting for pay day. We all know that feeling.
It's a terrific response and shows so much lo e and respect for Gareth, Linda, Ceri and Zac. I thank you from the bottom of my heart. You are a hero Gareth Roberts in every sense of the word. We will never forget you.
