For the Family of Dylan Young

Hello all,

My name is Katie Kyle (Russell), long time friend of Jamie Erb (since 9th grade science class, to be exact). Since then we've loved and supported one another as we navigated our late teens, 20's, and early 30's together, sometimes from thousands of miles away, and more recently, from right down the street.

While there's been many ups and downs in the longevity of our friendship, nothing could've prepared me to witness my best friend go through the unexpected death of the love of her life and father to her two boys, Kirby and Cannon.

Dylan Young, 28, passed away unexpectedly on February 2nd, 2024, leaving behind his once-in-a-lifetime love, Jamie, and his two beautiful boys, Kirby (5), and Cannon (16mo). He will long be remembered for the insurmountable love he held in his heart for his boys and Jamie, the wonderful father he was, his smile that brightened any room, and his silliness & charm.

I write this in the hope to give Jamie the support she deserves and needs. Since Dylan and Jamie were not married at the time of his death, there will be no survivor benefits for Jamie to receive. Their children will receive social security benefits, but that amount is unknown at this time and likely will not be enough to fill the void that was previously Dylan's contributions to his family. In the midst of his death they also discovered that Dylan was not signed up for any kind of life insurance or other benefits upon death through his work.

In just over a week Jamie has become the sole provider for herself and her boys. The weight and suddenness of that is soul-wrenching. My hope is that in creating this page, Jamie might be able to worry a little less about money and making ends meet as a single mom. I hope it will allow her to focus more on working through the tremendous loss of her lover and best friend, and to continue being the rock she's always been to Kirby and Cannon.

A little bit of kindness goes a long way. Please keep Jamie, Kirby, and Cannon in your thoughts as they navigate this devastating loss.
