Let me start by first saying I hate asking for anything—even simple things like a car ride—so this truly is a last resort.
I’ve spent the last of what little I had this month on vet bills to see what’s happening with my four-legged companion for the last 9 years. A therapist suggested my boyfriend get an emotional support animal, when he was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer. This is when Xena entered the picture. She became our light through the darkest days—his reason to fight, and now mine to keep going after his passing.
Earlier this month, Xena suddenly collapsed while walking. Since then, she hasn’t been able to walk or stand. On top of her mobility issues, she’s developed several skin growths that need to be tested for malignancy, adding more urgency and complexity to her care. While there’s no official diagnosis yet, the possibilities the vet mentioned—cancer or Cushing’s disease—are devastating. I’m praying it’s neither. She is still eating well so I am remaining optimistic. I have a second opinion appointment coming up, but her bloodwork and testing results so far suggest something serious.
Unfortunately, I’ve reached the end of my financial resources. That’s why I’m asking for help—to fund the next steps in her care: additional imaging, testing, and whatever treatment may follow. Anything left over after diagnosis will go directly toward her treatment.
At home, I’m doing everything I can to keep her comfortable—adjusting her diet and keeping her off the affected leg. Seeing her suffer is breaking my heart every day.
If a donation is not your method of support then please share. Everything helps. To the friends and neighbors that have already lended support and encouraged me, I appreciate you.
Thank you kindly!
