Our beloved senior dog, Ted, passed away this past March at the age of 17.5. We adopted him when he was 14, after the Be Like Josh Foundation pulled him from a shelter where he’d been abandoned by the family that raised him. Despite everything he’d been through, Ted was gentle, wise, fun, grateful and full of love. He changed our lives.
Ted loved fiercely and everyone who met him fell in love with him. He had no idea he had health issues and didn’t let anything slow him down. He loved food, balls and snuggling with Charlie or stealing stuffies and treats from him. He loved a good massage and napping next to his humans.
There’s something incredibly special about adopting a senior dog — the gratitude in their eyes, the wisdom in their soul, and the way they seem to know they’ve finally found home. To honour Ted’s memory and the joy he brought us, we’re raising money to cover the adoption fees for one or two senior dogs at Happy’s Place senior dog rescue, so they too can find comfort, love and a forever home in their golden years.
At Happy’s Place, the adoption fee is $500 for one senior or $850 for a bonded pair. Our goal is to raise $1,000 — enough to cover two individual adoptions or fully sponsor a bonded pair, with a little left over to help reduce the cost of a third adoption.
Every donation helps a senior dog find a loving home, and helps a family open their hearts to a dog that may need extra care. We will run this fundraiser from July 23 (Ted's birthday) to July 27 (Ted's Gotcha Day).
This is for Ted, and for every vintage baby still waiting for love and a soft place to land.
Thank you so much for your kindness, compassion and support.
With love,
Sophie, Louis and Charlie

ABOUT HAPPY’S PLACE
Happy’s Place is a 100% not-for-profit organization dedicated to giving Canadian senior dogs a second chance. Most of the dogs in their care come from shelters, where they’re at risk of euthanasia due to age or medical needs, as well as owner surrenders when guardians can no longer care for them.
Through a network of loving foster homes, each senior is given veterinary care, compassion, and love until they are adopted. For those not adopted, Happy’s provides lifelong retirement care, medical support, and even bucket list adventures.
Happy’s is committed not only to rescuing senior dogs, but also to finding creative ways to keep them with the families who love them when possible. They believe in the power of community, building meaningful connections through programs like senior-to-senior adoptions, wellness visits, and legacy giving. Their mission is to ensure every senior dog lives their best life — and finds their happy!
