Beloved community,

We are reaching out with tender hearts on behalf of our dear brother, Simon, who has been navigating a profound and unexpected medical crisis.

On November 4th, Simón went in for what was expected to be a straightforward procedure for a kidney stone. Complications arose and he developed a severe infection that led to septic shock, which is life threatening. Days later, he was helicoptered to Duluth, MN, where he has remained in critical condition in the ICU. This was truly a near-death experience.

We're grateful for his extraordinary medical team, the vast web of prayer worldwide and the devoted presence of his closest loved-ones.

He is in the process of making a miraculous recovery. In recent days he has begun waking, recognizing familiar faces, responding to voices and showing the spark of his life slowly returning.

Simon has spent more than 25 years showing up for others — welcoming people into community, tending to those in crisis, offering presence and humor in hard moments, and using his sensitivity and fire to meet people exactly where they are. He is a carpenter, a drummer and musician, a lover of music, a rule-bender, a playful free spirit, a devoted friend, an advocate, a psychonaut and explorer of the mysteries, a man who never hesitates when someone calls for help.

If you're reading this, you've probably been on the receiving end of his good medicine. Even if you haven't, maybe you can feel how adored he is by so many people.

Simon is truly one-of-a-kind.

He's a lover... he's a giver... and now it's our privilege to be able to give back to him and assure that he knows how cherished and cared for he is.

We anticipate a long recovery ahead. For an unknown amount of time, he will be unable to work and will require support for day-to-day living expenses as well as medical rehabilitation and integrative healing.
