Scarleth Renata Rosales de Soto, was born on August 19, 1969 in Guatemala, she is 49 years old. Strong woman, fighter, housewife and mother of 4 children.
On October 2017 she started with a flu and with a slightly strange cough, she visited a doctor who indicated that they were reflux problems. She was prescribed medicine to treat it, but the discomforts still continued. She visited another doctor who indicated that It was helicobacter pylori, gave her a different medication, but her condition still did not improve.
With the passage of time the cough was increasing and the weight loss was notorious, in addition to not being able to walk to the store, or talking much less laughing because she began to suffocate and drown.
Because her mother died of heart failure and taking into account the similar symptoms she had, a cardiologist was found. When she examined her, she indicated that it was urgent that she visit a pulmonologist because her color, her nails and the strange noise she heard in her lungs was worrisome. She underwent the corresponding exams including a biopsy, which indicated that she had cancer already metastasized in both lungs.
She was admitted to INCAN in Guatemala in March 2018 where she spent 2 days in the hospital because she could not breathe. Due to the aggressiveness of the cancer, She had to begin chemotherapy which costs anywhere from Q 3,500 to 9,000 quetzales which has been difficult to put together Each chemotherapy is applied every 21 days depending on the evolution of the disease and the reaction it has with each one of the medications.
Almost a year after the fight against cancer, chemotherapy is still necessary and the investment is getting higher every day. The family hopes that she can recover very soon despite the relapses and weakness in her body that have been caused by the chemotherapy. It should be mentioned that Scarleth was never an active or passive smoker since she does not smoke in her family nucleus, nor was she exposed to a wood stove, so doctors still can not explain the origin of the disease, some doctors say it could be a fungus but can not confirm it.

En octubre del año 2017 inició con una gripe y con una tos un poco rara, se visitó a un médico quien indicó que eran problemas de reflujo, le recetaron medicina para tratarlo, pero las molestias aun seguían, se visitó a otro médico que indicó que era la helicobacter pylori, se le dio el tratamiento adecuado, pero tampoco se mejoró.
Con el paso del tiempo la tos fue aumentando y la perdida de peso fue notoria, además de ya no poder caminar ni a la tienda, ni platicar mucho menos reírse porque comenzaba a sofocarse y ahogarse.
Debido a que su mamá murió de fallas cardiacas y tomando en cuenta los síntomas similares que tenía, se buscó a un cardiólogo quien al examinarla indico que era urgente que visitara a un neumólogo porque su color, sus uñas y el ruido extraño que escuchaba en sus pulmones era preocupante. Se le realizaron los exámenes correspondientes incluyendo una biopsia, la cual indicaba que tenía cáncer ya convertido en metástasis en ambos pulmones.
Se busco ingresarla en el INCAN lo cual se logró, en marzo del 2018 Paso 2 días en el hospital debido a que ya no podía respirar. Por la agresividad del cáncer comenzaron con la primera quimioterapia cada una de 3,500 a 9,000 quetzales, los cuales han sido difícil de juntar, cada quimioterapia se le aplica cada 21 días dependiendo de la evolución de la enfermedad y la reacción que tenga con cada una de las medicinas.
A casi un año de la lucha contra el cáncer las quimioterapias siguen siendo necesarias y la inversión es cada día más alta. La familia espera que se pueda recuperar muy pronto a pesar de las recaídas y la debilidad en su cuerpo que le han provocado las quimioterapias. Cabe mencionar que Scarleth nunca fue fumadora activa ni pasiva ya que en su núcleo familiar no se fuma, tampoco estuvo expuesta a cocina de leña por lo que los médicos aun no pueden dar razón del origen de la enfermedad, algunos médicos dicen que pudo ser un hongo pero no lo pueden confirmar.
