For Sale: A Short Film About Mental Health

For Sale is a short film that addresses mental health in the African American community by telling an intimate story through the lens of a
young married couple. We need your help to complete it.


As producers, our hope is to finish the film, distribute it for use in non-profit organizations that address mental health in marginalized
communities and to continue our work of "artivism" by completing the next installation of this compelling series of films. It is important
that as BIPOC  filmmakers, we tell our stories.

We know art is a powerful tool that can impact perspectives. We chose this subject to focus on in particular due to the recent rise in cases of depression and anxiety among African Americans. The Journal of Death and Dying published a study detailing the prolonged grief
African Americans are more likely to experience than any other racial group. Unfortunately, members of this marginalized community are also unlikely to seek treatment due to the cultural stigma surrounding therapy and the systemic barriers to care.

Through the movie For Sale, we want help remove the stigma of seeking help for mental health. The film is an engaging way to connect the dots for our community and to begin the conversation about how marginalized communities can openly discuss mental health without
judgment. Your generous donation will aid us with our mission.



Support of our project will guarantee its distribution and completion within our timeline.

Your support will allow us to finish the project in a timely manner with the goal of impacting many lives for years to come. We
also want to continue the work of addressing mental health in the next iteration of this project. For Sale is just the beginning for us.
